At My Brain Rewired, we want everyone to be able to read, listen to and navigate our content, including people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities. This statement explains what we have done, how we evaluate the site, and how to contact us if you find a barrier.
Our commitment
We work on an ongoing basis with web developers, web accessibility specialists and legal counsel to improve the accessibility of this site. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as our technical reference, consistent with the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Accessibility is ongoing work: we review the site periodically and correct what we find.
Measures we have implemented
- Accessibility menu: the button at the bottom left opens options to adjust text size, contrast, spacing and other reading preferences.
- Color contrast: text, links and controls meet the recommended contrast levels.
- Keyboard navigation: the site can be navigated with the Tab key, with a visible outline showing where you are. The first press of Tab shows a “Skip to content” link. The Search and Subscribe buttons and their windows can be opened with Enter and closed with Esc.
- Screen readers: buttons, icons and links have accessible names, and the main content of each page is identified.
How we evaluate the site
We review the site’s main templates (home page, categories, articles, informational pages, search and error page) using:
- Automated testing with axe against WCAG 2.1 A and AA criteria.
- Color contrast checks.
- Keyboard navigation testing.
- Review of the names announced by screen readers for links, buttons, images and page regions.
Known limitations
- Third-party content: advertisements, embedded media, social media content and external websites we link to as sources are controlled by third parties. Their accessibility is outside our control, although we aim to choose providers that follow good practices.
- Article archive: the site contains a large library of articles published over time. Some older articles may have images without a complete description or other details we have not yet reviewed individually. We are improving them progressively.
Contact us
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, or need any content in an alternative format, please use our Contact Us page. Tell us the page, the problem you found and, if you wish, the assistive technology you use. We will make every reasonable effort to respond within a reasonable time and offer an alternative.
